Getting Started with UXM On-Premises

If your organization is deploying UXM in an on-premises environment, all UXM components are installed and managed inside your own data center or private cloud. This gives you full control over your data, security, and integrations — with a one-time setup required before endpoints begin sending data.


Choose Your Deployment Type

UXM supports two flexible deployment models based on your environment size and performance needs:

🔹 Standalone Deployment

All UXM components (Collector, Data Processor, Web Console, and Database) run on a single server. Ideal for smaller setups, pilot environments, or testing.

🔹 Distributed Deployment

Each component runs on separate servers, offering:

  • Better performance
  • Scalability for large environments
  • High availability and reliability

Steps to Set Up UXM On-Premises

Step 1: Review System Requirements

Before installation, ensure your servers meet the recommended hardware, operating system, and network requirements listed in the System Requirements section.

This helps guarantee a smooth installation and optimal performance.


Step 2: Install UXM Server Components

Using the UXM Distributed Installation Guide, install the core UXM components on your chosen servers or virtual machines:

  • Standalone: All components on a single server
  • Distributed: Each component installed separately as outlined in the guide

These components work together to process, store, and present UXM data.


Step 3: Configure Initial Settings

Once installation is complete, open the UXM Web Console from your browser. Here, you can complete basic setup and ensure that your environment is ready for endpoint connectivity.


Step 4: Install UXM Endpoint Agents

Next, install the appropriate UXM Agent on each endpoint you want to monitor.

Supported agents include:

  • Windows
  • macOS
  • Linux
  • Thin Client

Agents automatically register with the UXM Collector and begin sending telemetry as soon as they are installed.


Step 5: Verify Data and System Health

Log in to the UXM Web Console and confirm that everything is working correctly:

  • Devices appear in the dashboard
  • Performance and connectivity telemetry is visible
  • System health indicators look normal

You should now have full visibility into your environment.
